A recent study in the British Medical Journal has found that  for a womens' bone health,  calcium supplementation in moderation is best. Women should try to get 700 mg of calcium from dietary sources daily and an additional 500-600 mg from supplements. Dietary sources include low-fat dairy products and leafy greens, and fortified juices and cereals and fish with bones like sardines and canned salmon. Reading the labels on food products will provide a better understanding of the amount of calcium in the product.
