Before reaching for another couple of Aspirin, Tylenol, Advil, etc., consider this: According to an article published in the Journal of American Pharmacology, effects of NSAID (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug) use includes adverse GI effects including dyspepsia, occult and overt intestinal bleeding, and "ulcer disease".
Aspirin is often taken on a regular basis in an effort to thing blot and prevent clot from forming. And thin the blood it does, so well that for every 2 Aspirin that are taken, researches have found that one loses 1 teaspoon of blood per day due to intestinal bleeding. Not a good way to improve what is probably an already over-stressed digestive and immune system.
Is there a better alternative? Much research has pointed toward the judicious use of Omega 3 Essential Fatty Acid supplementation (found in fish oil) as not only an effective chronic pain reliever, but it also has the effect of thinning blood. Now those are the side effects we like, when one good effect leads to another, and the body becomes healthier overall.
