Everyday, patients young and old are being seen in our office for pain complaints associated with long term use of computers, video games and mobile devices.

They all have neck pain, shoulder pain, headaches and less often numbness and tingling of the arms and hands.

The average student is now spending an excess of seven hours a day on some form of moble device, especially during the summer.

Another more serious issue that has been reported in the media recently is talking or texting while driving. According to the National Safety Council, 28 percent of auto causes are caused by a driver's distraction associated with these activities.

The problem is not going away as more and more people are communicating at home, in restaurants, at red lights in their cars, walking in the mall and parking lots and in our reception room. Long term poor posture and repetitive stress while using these hand-held moble devices can lead to muscle strain and pinched nerves of the neck, shoulders and upper back.
